Prune in late Winter, before buds show in Spring.

When you stand at a tree, go in this order: 1. Remove dead/diseased wood 2. Remove crossing/rubbing branches 3. Remove most vertical shoots 4. Open the center (let light in) 5. Reduce height (selectively)
